The bus was on its way from Kashwan to Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir when the accident took place.
Srinagar: At least 25 people died on Monday after a bus full of people fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. According to reports, a further 13 people have been injured in the accident. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital and rescue operations are currently underway at the accident site.
Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana confirmed that the bus was on its way from Kashwan to Kishtwar when the accident took place. Earlier in the morning, he confirmed 10 dead and 7 injured but the casualty count has significantly increased in the past few hours.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took to his official Twitter handle and gave his condolences to the victims of the accident. He said, “Terrible news coming in about the high death toll in a bus accident in Kishtwar. Condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.”
